The Shell Centre, head office of Shell’s UK division, is a 27 storey skyscraper situated by London’s South Bank. Main contractor, ISG InteriorExterior PLC, handpicked TAYLOR’S HOISTS to work on the immense 351ft building, thanks to its extensive technical capabilities and state of the art Alimak Hek machines.
Due to the sheer height of the building, TAYLOR’S HOISTS implemented a specialist landing bridge between window openings and the hoist. With the large volume of the public surrounding the site this also acted as an important safety feature.
Taylor’s Hoists have also been involved throughout the many phases of the project initially providing preconstruction planning advice to the Shell project team. The Logistics team were also called upon to provide a variety of services to the various main contractors involved in the development. These services consisted of the hire and installation of a vast site accommodation complex which remained in place for almost 5 years, the provision of hoist operators, traffic and waste management personnel, janitorial services and even took on the role of Principal Contractor directly for Shell.
